Comenius Meeting
in Nitra – October 2010
The first year of the
Comenius project which our school is involved in passed by very quickly.
Nevertheless, we successfully finished all the work that was supposed
to be done and it was time to start the second year of our cooperation.
The day of our friends´ arrival was expected with tension, happiness
and optimism. We were very pleased to meet new members of the Comenius
project. After taking our guests home, we had a lovely family dinner.
Next day, we showed our guests around our school. After this short
tour the work began. Divided into 5 groups, we all participated in creating
our web page. Following a short break for a very nice meal at school,
we finished our work and at around 5 o´clock pm we headed for a restaurant,
where we all joined to eat, talk and have a great time.
Saturday was a rather long day for us. Following our tour guide around
Bratislava´s jewels in Old town, seeing many beautiful buildings and
learning something about history of our capital city was a little tiring,
but we could refresh ourselves by shopping in a nearby shopping and
entertainment centre - Eurovea. For some of us the day ended with our
arrival to Nitra, but some of us went to a nice pub, where we engaged
ourselves in a conversation about the real life in Wales and Germany.
At the end of the second year´s first visit we had to say good -
bye to our friends. On Sunday, we all came to wish them a safe journey.
We also expressed our wish to see each other in Wales, where the second
meeting of this year will take part in February. we are looking forward
to meet them again and to strengthen our friendships.
Wales 2011
The half day-long journey on the 3rd of February took us to Colwyn Bay, the town
of one of our friendly neighbourhood schools in Comenius project. The time of
our 5th meeting came and with it our excitement grew exponencially.
On our first day we were invited to have dinner in the school dining room with
the rest of the pupils in Rhydal Penrhos. After a lovely dinner we were
distributed into our host families, where we spent a nice Thursday evening with
our welsh friends.
Friday was a working day for us. Putting together our website wasn´t easy
(especially for Marek, our head IT Neo) and our well-deserved reward (a nice
lunch) was served. After spending most of this day in school our Welsh friend
prepared for us bowling in Llandudno (one of the parts of Colwyn Bay). This
Friday evening filled with flying bowling balls ended with excitement and
looking forward to the next day.
On Sunday we were taken by our Welsh friends to see Chester - a beautiful
historical town with a beautiful Chester Cathedral, which we had a chance to
admire from inside. After spending some time wandering through the streets of
Chester we headed for Cheshire Oaks - the city of every shopper´s "heaven".
After coming home we had our last chance to spend a lovely evening with our hist
families.
Next day came very quickly and we had to say our good-byes in the morning. A bit
disappointed, a bit sad we left our Welsh and German friends wishing each other
a safe journey home and expressing a wish to see each other in June.
During this lovely visit of our friends from colwyn Bay we had a chance to taste
the traditional English breakfast, we could see one of the most beautiful
schools and spend some quality time with people we could only talk to through
the Internet. We all hope we will see each other in June in Germany and that our
cooperation won´t stop there and then.
